Da Nang Party Committee Secretary Nguyen Van Quang and municipal People's Committee Chairman Huynh Duc Tho co-chaired a talk show on boosting trade links with the European Union (EU).

The event was attended by Mr Pier Giorgio Aliberti, the Head of the Delegation of the EU to Viet Nam, along with representatives from EU member nations in Viet Nam.

In his remarks at the event, Chairman Tho expressed his delight at fruitful results from the bilateral cooperation programmes with EU nations in environment protection, startups, education and other aspects.

He affirmed EU is one of Da Nang’s largest export markets and sources of imports. In 2019 alone, the total imports and exports between Da Nang and the EU hit 140 million USD and 265 million USD respectively.

Mr Tho highlighted the cooperative potential between Da Nang and EU partners. He also underlined the significance of the EU-Viet Nam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) which officially took effect from August 2020 to promote trade liberalisation, as well as leverage the cooperative ties and exchanges, between Da Nang and EU member nations.

Delivering his closing speech at the event, Secretary Quang encouraged businesses and investors from EU member countries to visit Da Nang to seek investment opportunities. He pledged Da Nang’s willingness to create the most favourable possible conditions for EU businesses to operate effectively in Da Nang.
