Many remarkable, fruitful achievements recorded in the time-honoured burgeoning relationship between Da Nang and the U.S.A have been hailed at the Tuesday ceremony to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Viet Nam-US diplomatic ties.

The event was co-hosted by the Da Nang chapters of the Union of Friendship Organisations and the Viet Nam-US Friendship Association, and the University of Foreign Language Studies.

In his remarks at the event, Da Nang People's Committee Vice Chairman Ho Ky Minh emphasised the fact that the U.S.A is one of Da Nang’s largest export markets and the third-largest source of foreign direct investment (FDI) with about 16.6% of the total FDI channeled into the city.

As of 15 September, Da Nang had received 69 US-invested projects totalling more than 590 million US$. Such major US brands as Crown Cork & Seals, Key Tronic EMS, Coca-Cola, Universal Alloy (UAC), and Kimberly-Clark are operating well in the city.

It is worth lauding that Da Nang and its US partners have boost their cooperation in an effective manner on education-training joint programmes, friendship stimulus activities, people-to-people exchanges, support schemes for local people with disabilities and Agent Orange (AO) victims, herby helping to strengthen friendship and cooperation between the two countries.

Till date, Da Nang has set up friendly and cooperative ties with three US localities, namely Oakland (California), Pittsburgh (Pennsylvania), and Houston (Texas).

Also, noticeably, Da Nang has been a destination for many high-ranking US delegations, for instance, visits by US Senate President Pro Tempore Patrick Leahy as part of his working visit to Viet Nam in 2014 and President Donald Trump in 2017 during his stay there for the 2017 APEC Economic Leaders’ Week.

Another highlight brightening in Da Nang - the U.S.A cooperation is humanitarian and development aid provided by US non-governmental organisations. As of 2020, Da Nang had set up relations with 105 US NGOs.
