Da Nang provides 6.35 billion VND aid to flood-hit areas of central Viet Nam

On Saturday, a group of Da Nang leaders, led by municipal Party Committee Deputy Secretary cum municipal People's Committee Vice Chairman Le Trung Chinh, visited the flood-affected north-central provinces of Quang Tri, Quang Binh and Ha Tinh in order to provide 6.35 billion VND worth of aid to  support affected localities to deal with the aftermath of flooding as a result of the recent storms-triggered torrential rains.

Each of affected localities received 2 billion VND in disaster relief from Da Nang government. In addition, 200 million VND worth of aid, donated by  participants in the 22nd municipal Party Committee Congress for the 2020 - 2025 tenure, were given to Huong Hoa District which is the worst-hit area in Quang Tri Province.

Also, the Da Nang Women's Union provided 50 million VND in financial aid to each of the Women's Unions of affected Quang Tri, Quang Binh and Ha Tinh provinces.

During his visits to affected areas in central Viet Nam, Vice Chairman Chinh expressed his sympathy to affected localities about the huge damage caused by the recent severe floods. He also expressed his heartfelt condolences to the families of military officials and men who laid down their lives whilst performing their rescue missions.

Mr Chinh hoped that people in flood-hit areas would overcome their difficulties and soon be able to continue with their normal lives.

Mr Chinh also pledged that the Da Nang government is always willing to give a helping hand to the worst-hit areas in Central Viet Nam to cope with the impact and aftermath of recent natural disasters.

As of 28 October, the historic floods triggered by 30-year record rainfall of up to 3,000 mm have caused damage worth 2 trillion VND and 2.7 trillion VND to Quang Tri and Quang Binh provinces respectively. Meanwhile, Ha Tinh Province has yet to calculate how much its damaged property is worth.
