Da Nang residents make sticky rice cakes to support worst-hit flood victims
In late October, members of the Thai Lai Village Chapter of the Da Nang Women Union in Hoa Vang District’s Hoa Nhon Commune came together to make 500 ‘banh ro’(sticky rice cakes with green bean paste), which has similar ingredients to ‘banh chung’ (square sticky rice cakes) but comes in a smaller shape, to support people worst hit by the floods in Quang Binh Province.

In addition to the cakes, the kind-hearted women raised money to provide essentials, including clothes, sweet cakes and instant noodles, to worst-hit flood victims in a bid to help them overcome their current difficulties and continue with their lives soon.
Over recent years, members of the Thai Lai Village Chapter of the Da Nang Women Union has been active in providing practical support for disadvantaged villagers. In particular, the chapter members have donated learning tools, textbooks, notebooks and new school uniforms to poor pupils for new academic years. Additionally, they have visited and given gifts to single elderly people across the village to help them celebrate Tet and public holidays.
