The statement was made by Da Nang Party Committee Secretary Nguyen Van Quang during his reception on Monday for US Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City Marie C.Damour.

Secretary Quang expressed his delight at fruitful results from bilateral relations between Da Nang and US localities over recent years.

Mr Quang remarked, despite the tremendously negative impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic, the first half of this year still saw positive results from software exports, thereby hopefully creating a momentum for the progress of the spearhead economic sector next year.

The Da Nang Party chief asked for help from the US diplomat to encourage more US investors to pour their money into the city in the time to come, hereby contributing to lifting bilateral relations between Da Nang and US partners to a new height.

In reply, Ms Damour highlighted the efforts by the government and people of Da Nang, and Viet Nam as a whole, in the fight against Covid-19. She expressed her thankfulness to the Da Nang government for providing active support for US citizens stranded in the city, and for treating foreign Covid-19 patients, including those from her country, since the coronavirus outbreak began in the city.

The US guest pledged to do her utmost to encourage more US investors to visit Da Nang to seek  investment opportunities, especially in the fields of energy security, infrastructure construction and education, in the coming time.

During his meeting with Ms Damour on the same day, Da Nang People’s Committee Chairman Huynh Duc Tho expressed his excitement about seeing a growing number of US businesses showing their keen interest in investing into Da Nang in recent years. Most notably, the opening of the Da Nang Chapter of AmCham Viet Nam played an important role in supporting US businesses operating in the city and attracting new US-invested projects into the city.

Chairman Tho said he would like the US guest to encourage more businesses from her country to pump their money into the city in the years ahead.
