Cuban diplomat visits Da Nang to strengthen ties

During his Wednesday reception for Cuban Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City Indira Lopez Arguelles, Da Nang People's Committee Vice Chairman Le Quang Nam hailed the time-honoured close fraternal friendship and comprehensive cooperation between Viet Nam and Cuba, founded by President Ho Chi Minh and Leader Fidel Castro and nurtured by generations of the people of two countries.

Vice Chairman Nam briefed his guest on Da Nang’s tremendous efforts to secure its position as a major economic, tourism, service and industrial hub in Central Viet Nam and Central Highlands, with a focus on boosting high technology, IT and hi-tech agriculture.

The host hoped to see Da Nang and Cuban localities strengthen comprehensive and extensive cooperation and exchanges activities in such aspects which the Caribbean's largest island boasts strengths and advantages as healthcare, education, science and technology, and organic agriculture.

In parallel to the above-mentioned proposals, the Da Nang government official also asked for more support from the Cuban diplomat to promote bilateral exchanges between the two sides as an active response to unswervingly consolidating and reinforcing the traditional friendship between the two countries.

In reply, Consul General Indira Lopez Arguelles said 2020 marks the 60th anniversary of the establishment of Viet Nam-Cuba diplomatic ties (2 December).

In reality, Cuba proudly possesses lots of experience in the pharmaceutical manufacturing industry, and it is eyeing to expand win-win cooperation in this aspect, and healthcare sector as a whole, with other countries worldwide in the time ahead.

In addition, Cuba is giving a priority to boosting organic agricultural production, with a heed to replacing inorganic fertilizer completely with biofertilizer. Based on this fact, organic agriculture, in hopefully, could be one of the most potential bilateral cooperation aspects in the coming time, especially amid Da Nang being on track to promote the development of the hi-tech agriculture.
