Da Nang remains on strong feet to promote economic growth whilst preventing coronavirus

A handful of constructive proposals and recommendations were delivered by many highly-dedicated representatives of the Da Nang authorities at the Monday section of the 16th session of the Da Nang People’s Council in its 9th tenure for the 2016 - 2021 term.

In particular, the participants focused on analysing and clarifying Da Nang’s socio-economic issues this year, and proposed effective solutions for next year.

Da Nang is on course of making a last-ditch attempt to see a rise of 6% in its gross regional domestic product (GRDP) for this tough year compared to last year.

With regard to remakables economic outlooks for next year, Da Nang Party Committee Deputy Secretary Luong Nguyen Minh Triet, affirmed the city has many advantages to make recovery strides.

In particular, focus will be on making an active response to the Politburo-adopted Resolution No 43-NQ/TW regarding the Da Nang’s major developments to 2030 with a vision to 2045 dated 24 January, 2016, and the National Assembly’s pilot organisation of the urban government model and a number of specific mechanisms and policies for Da Nang.

In addition, next year will see new tasks set for some economic spearhead sectors, so that the face of the city’s socio-economic development can be lifted considerably.

Mr Tran Van Truong, a representative of the Hoa Vang District authorities proposed that the city make clear solutions in tourism development strategies, with a heed paid to developing diversified, attractive tourism products to increase visitor numbers in Da Nang.

In his perspectives regarding investment attraction, Nguyen Ba Son, the Deputy Head of the municipal National Assembly Member’s Delegation, said it’s high time to make active innovations in mechanisms and policies to attract new domestic and FDI projects.

In addition, preferential mechanisms and supportive policies should go to businesses operating across Da Nang amidst the globally complicated COVID-19 pandemic, as a positive move to reinforce the corporate trust in Da Nang's leadership and administration.

Of special note, Da Nang Party Committee Deputy Secretary cum municipal People’s Committee Vice Chairman Le Trung Chinh pointed out to the fact that Da Nang is still at a high risk of another coronavirus wave, and this concerning possibility required very seriously and drastically-implemented prevention and control measures.

In the time ahead, special attention should be paid to banning from the public visiting Da Nang’s designed quarantine facilities under no necessary circumstance.

In the case of new coronavirus wave, specific scenarios and plans to cope with this incident have been proactively prepared, said Vice Chairman Chinh.
