In the morning of the 4th day of the Lunar New Year, many Youth Union members from An Khe Ward, Thanh Khe District were keen on their voluntary work at a checkpoint in the  city.

Mr Do Van Thanh, Secretary of the An Khe Ward Youth Union organisation said its members are assigned to support functional forces, namely medical workers, the police, the army and the militia, to conduct measures against the coronavirus at the checkpoint from 6 February to 8 March

Deputy Secretary of the Da Nang Youth Union Nguyen Ba Duan said, “Despite the joyful and jubilant Lunar New Year festival, a combined total of more than 400 young people and Youth Union members, have been on duty at 10 out of the city’s 14 checkpoints.

All of them have been active in supporting the functional forces, with the voluntary spirit and high sense of responsibility and enthusiasm to make efforts in keeping the city free from the deadly virus which has been raged in some Vietnamese localities over recent times.

In order to encourage the young spirit of the city on the task of preventing and combating epidemics, the Youth Union leaders held a visit, sharing and giving gifts to the Youth Union forces at on duty.

Each day, these hard-working young people put on stuffy protective suits to embark on their tasks in measuring the body temperature of anyone who enter or leave the city and guide them how to make health declarations.

“Wearing very stuffy protective suits, we must work continuously for many hours in a working environment without air-conditioning during the sunny daytime. Finishing a day of overloaded work, all of us are really exhausted and our clothing is heavily soaked in sweat. Despite these hardships we now face, we are proud of our contributions to our country's fight against coronavirus.”, said a Youth Union member on duty at a checkpoint.

“Working in the sun is very tiring, but we have no choice but to make joint efforts with functional forces to keep coronavirus out of city out of Da Nang”, another young volunteer said.

In order to encourage the young to uphold their working spirit at the checkpoints, representatives from the municipal Youth Union have paid visits and extended Tet greetings, plus presenting gifts to these volunteers.
