Da Nang's YU members actively respond to Youth Month
Since the begining of 2021, the Da Nang Youth Union (YU) and its chapters across the city have been active in implementing numerous charitable programmes and voluntary activities to mark the 90th anniversary of the Ho Chi Minh Communist YU (26 March). Included are the building of new rural areas and a civilised urban lifestyle, environment protection activities, and promoting technological innovations to improve labour productivity.

Secretary of the Hoa Vang District chapter of the municipal YU Nguyen Thi Giang Thuy remarked, in response to this year’s Youth Month campaign, all YU members in the district have become actively involved in voluntary campaigns and charitable activities across the district.
The focus has been given to upgrading 113 residential access roads, repairing downgraded houses for YU members in difficult circumstances, and giving free health insurance cards to 20 poor pupils.
“Of special note, the Hoa Vang District chapter has recently started construction works on a playground for children in Con Mong Village, Hoa Phuoc Commune, suburban Hoa Vang District. The new development will be a healthy and useful public playground for local children. The construction work costs 200 million VND funded by the district’s YU members” Ms Thuy remarked.
Likewise, over recent months, the Thanh Khe District chapter of the municipal YU has planted trees and placed a bookshelf, totalling 50 million VND, at the district-based Le Van Tam Primary School.
Also, some outdoor fitness and children entertainment equipment, worth 150 million VND in total, have been placed at the residential area in An Khe Ward, Thanh Khe District.
Besides, the YU organisation in Thanh Khe District has donated 20 million VND to a social policy family in the district to help them repair their downgraded house, as well as has given scholarships, valued at 500,000 VND each, to 20 poor studious pupils across the district.
Meanwhile, the Son Tra District chapter of the municipal YU has awarded 35 scholarships, valued at 500,000 VND each, to local poor pupils. Also, local YU members have become involved in removing illegal advertisements on power poles and alleys and in other public areas.
Additionally, YU members across Da Nang have actively been duty around the clock at COVID-19 prevention checkpoints set up at entrances to Da Nang through Tet breaks in a bid to keep coronavirus out of the city as the deadly virus has been raged in some Vietnamese localities over recent times.
Secretary of the municipal YU Nguyen Manh Dung noted “All of YU members across Da Nang, with their voluntary spirit and high sense of responsibility and enthusiasm, have joined efforts with the municipal government to develop Da Nang into a more beautiful, civilised and modern city”.
