New Zealand offers COVID-19 support to female workers in Da Nang and Thua Thien-Hue
The New Zealand Embassy in Viet Nam has provided 50,000 NZD (about 35,600 USD) in funding to the ActionAid Viet Nam-launched project ‘Leave No One Behind in the Struggle against COVID-19’.

According to recent survey made by ActionAid Viet Nam, more than 90% of tourism employees have lost their jobs due to COVID-19. In Da Nang and Thua Thien-Hue, 90,000 people either became unemployed or had their income significantly cut.
Only 22% of the surveyed workers have accessed to the Vietnamese government-passed a 62 trillion VND ($2.6 billion) COVID-19 support package targeting only poor people and businesses affected by COVID-19 pandemic.
Hoang Phuong Thao, Country Director of ActionAid Viet Nam, affirmed that the project is a way to help female workers become more visible in our community, in addition to building a practical model so that the target beneficiaries can access support in an efficient and transparent manner.
Also, this initiative helps fulfil the commitments of Viet Nam and New Zealand to work together so that no one is left behind in the fight against the coronavirus.
