State President Nguyen Xuan Phuc highly lauded Da Nang and the neighbouring province of Quang Nam for their remarkable development achievements over the past years during a working session with their leaders on Saturday. He, in particular, urged the two localities to arouse development aspirations for securing a mighty Viet Nam, and suggested that that spirit and high determination be widely spread in the coming time.

In attendance at the meeting with State President Phuc were the Da Nang key leaders, namely Party Committee Secretary Nguyen Van Quang, Party Committee Permanent Deputy Secretary cum municipal People's Council Chairman Luong Nguyen Minh Triet, Party Committee Deputy Secretary cum municipal People's Committee Chairman Le Trung Chinh. Amongst the participating Quang Nam was Provincial Party Committee Secretary Phan Viet Cuong.

State President Phuc expressed his delight at the outstanding growth of the two localities recorded in the first quarter of this year. They, noticeably, have effectively fulfilled the dual goal of both keeping themselves out of COVID-19 and bolstering the economy.

Da Nang has attracted a number of domestic and foreign investors and is working on building itself into a financial hub. Meanwhile, Quang Nam dealt with difficulties following disasters and flooding, and is focusing on tourism and services.

The State President suggested the two localities seek pillar fields as Da Nang is a hub in Central Viet Nam, whilst Da Nang – Quang Nam is a growth locomotive in the region and serves as an important driver of the country’s growth.

He asked them to become livable localities and make joint efforts to build a powerful country, with a focus on becoming safe tourism paradises.

Once Da Nang sets hi-tech industry as a pillar, it is necessary to choose capable investors that abide by law, and create a better working environment to raise labour productivity for socio-economic development.

The Da Nang Party chief said, last month saw the announcement of some decrees and decisions approved by the national government and the Prime Minister on Da Nang’s development goals. This is viewed as important foundational guidelines and legal foundations, thereby enabling the city to bring into play its potential and advantages for rapid yet sustainable development in the coming time.

Notable amongst them are the approvals on the adjustment of the Da Nang Master Plan for its major development goals to 2030, with a vision to 2045, the implementation of a number of on special mechanisms for Da Nang in terms of investment, finance, budgetary status, and decentralisation, the investment policy decision for the development of shared infrastructure in the Lien Chieu port project, and research plans for the development of a Southeast Asia regional-level international financial centre (IFC) in the city.
