Da Nang government chief pays visits to COVID-19 prevention checkpoints

Da Nang People's Committee Chairman Le Trung Chinh on Saturday paid inspection visits and presented gifts to functional forces staffing at some checkpoints which have been reset at major entrances to the city for the screening of everyone entering or leaving the city to curb the COVID-19 spread.

The visited checkpoints are located on Ta Quang Buu Street, Hoang Van Thai Street, the extended Nguyen Tat Thanh, National Highway 1A and the Cocobay Entertainment and Tourism Complex.

During his inspection visits, Chairman Chinh praised the staff of the aforementioned  checkpoints for their great dedication and devotion to their duties regardless of hardship and difficulties facing them. 

He also encouraged them to continue their efforts to uphold the high sense of responsibility to fulfill their assigned tasks, with a focus on strictly complying with COVID-19 prevention and control regulations, and ensure their health during the performance of the missions at the checkpoints.

“Our ultimate goal is to protect the public’s health and promptly detect and prevent the virus from entering and spreading in the city,” said the municipal administration chief.

Checkpoints have been reset at a total of 15 entrances to Da Nang, namely on Ta Quang Buu Street, Hoang Van Thai Street nearby the Khanh Son Landfill in Lien Chieu District, the extended Nguyen Tat Thanh (an approach road to the Hai Van Tunnel in Lien Chieu District), 14G road at the foot of the Nui Than Tai Hot Spring Park, a section of National Highway No 14B nearby the De 89 Restaurant, the Tu Cau T-junction, the DT605 road leading to the Bo Bo Pine Forest, National Highway 1 A (near a Traffic Police Station in Hoa Vang District's Hoa Nhon Commune), the Cocobay Entertainment and Tourism Complex in Ngu Hanh Son District, the end point of Tran Dai Nghia Street in Ngu Hanh Son District’s Hoa Hai Ward, the Da Nang Inter-Provincial Coach Station, Da Nang Railway Station in Thanh Khe District, Da Nang Port in Son Tra District, Tho Quang Finishing Wharf in Son Tra District and the Domestic Passenger Terminal at the  Da Nang International Airport in Hai Chau District.

Healthcare workers, police officers, border guards, and volunteer students are staffing these checkpoints around the clock on a daily basis.

Available at these checkpoints are hand sanitizers, medical gloves, body temperature monitors and other medical tools to monitor the health of anyone who passes through there.

Besides filling out health declaration forms as previously, those who pass through the checkpoints are recommended to declare their health status via online apps so that the municipal Health Department can find it easer to manage entries and exits for coronavirus preventive move.

Those who fail to comply with COVID-19 prevention regulations set at the checkpoints will be prevented from entering or leaving the city. The act of protest will be handled according to the laws, depending on the levels of severity.
