Da Nang Party Committee Secretary Nguyen Van Quang on Sunday paid inspection visits and presented gifts to personnel staffing at some checkpoints which have been reset at major entrances to the city for the screening of everyone entering or leaving the city to curb the COVID-19 spread.

The city’s top leader was accompanied by municipal People's Committee Vice Chairman Ho Ky Minh.

The visited checkpoints are located at Tho Quang Finishing Wharf and Tien Sa Port in Son Tra District, the end point of Tran Dai Nghia Street in Ngu Hanh Son District’s Hoa Hai Ward, and section of National Highway No 14B in Hoa Vang District.

During his inspection visits, Secretary Quang highly praised the staff of the aforementioned checkpoints for their great dedication and devotion to their assigned duties regardless of hardship and difficulties facing them.

Amidst the still complicated developments of COVID-19, not only does the re-establishment of checkpoints at major entrances to the city timely detect and prevent the virus from entering the city but it also aims to raise public awareness of medical declarations, the municipal Party chief affirmed.

In particular, he highly lauded the use of automatic QR Code scanners in medical declarations for controlling those who enter and leave the city, and proving highly effective in managing entries and exits in crowed places, factories and enterprises, especially industrial zones. This technology is used for contact tracing tasks if a positive case of COVID-19 is reported there.

On the same day, Da Nang Party Committee Deputy Secretary cum municipal People's Council Chairman Luong Nguyen Minh Triet and municipal People's Committee Vice Chairman Le Quang Nam visited and extended their words of great encouragement to those who were on duty at some checkpoints.

The visited checkpoints are located in the Da Nang Inter-Provincial Coach Station, the 14G road at the foot of the Nui Than Tai Hot Spring Park, a section of National Highway No 14B nearby the De 89 Restaurant, Da Nang Railway Station in Thanh Khe District and the Domestic Passenger Terminal at the Da Nang International Airport in Hai Chau District.

Chairman Triet encouraged functional forces staffing at these checkpoints to continue to uphold the high sense of responsibility to fulfill their assigned tasks, thereby contributing to ensuring the containment of COVID-19 in the city.
