Da Nang plans to conduct "One door-one test" campaign for 276,000 families before Election Day

In its efforts to ensure the ultimate safe of voters and voting station staff during the upcoming elections of deputies to the 15th National Assembly (NA) and all-level People’s Councils for the 2021-2026 tenure, Da Nang will carry out COVID-19 tests for about 12,200 members of election teams and conduct its “One door-one test” programme for 276,000 families in the city before Election Day. The aim is to early detect those who are at the greatest risk of spreading COVID-19, in order to quickly isolate them, trace their contacts to stop virus spreading.

This statement was made by Mr Luong Nguyen Minh Triet, Chairman of Da Nang People’s Council cum Chairman of Election Commission of the city at a nationwide online meeting to review preparation for upcoming elections on Tuesday morning. 

Mr Vuong Dinh Hue, Chairman of Viet Nam’s National Assembly and the National Election Commission chaired the online meeting taking place in the capital city of Ha Noi with the participants from 63 nationwide localities.

On behalf of the online meeting participants in Da Nang, Election Commission of Da Nang Chairman Triet said the Da Nang government has paid special attention to both making well preparations for upcoming elections and tightening measures to control COVID-19 in a bid to ensure the success of the upcoming national important political event amid the complex developments of the pandemic in the city.

Till date, the city has set up 32 designated quarantine facilities, identified 19 residential settings as the so-called “medical self-quarantine areas”, put 51 residential settings under lockdown, and isolated 6,450 contacts of patients with COVID-19 at home and designated facilities.

In its efforts to ensure the ultimate safety of voters, Da Nang has made 4 plans for all possible circumstances amid COVID-19 threat which help staff at 525 voting venues respond to any situation.

The Da Nang government will ask all voters across the city to make mandatory health declarations before entering polling stations in order to support the city’s efforts to fight against COVID-19 and manage the number of voters in all polling places in the city.

Mr Triet also said that voting hours at local polling places will vary for each one in order to allow voters arrive at polling stations in different times to avoid large gatherings due to COVID-19.

There will be 69,198, 594 voters nationwide to cast their votes in the upcoming elections at 84,767 polling stations.
