Da Nang sees drastic decrease of transmission in the community

“Da Nang has demonstrated the ability to reduce transmission of COVID-19, and our preventative measures have been very effective to lower virus transmission in the community. We are seeing drastic decrease of transmission in our city. However, we must all remain vigilant ,and continue abiding by the city’s government rules to stop the spread of the virus.”, Mr Quang said.
The Da Nang top leader also urged relevant agencies to step up investigations of COVID-19 patients and their close contacts in order to act quickly and keep case counts down.
Mr Quang asked the heath sector to conduct tests on all workers in local industrial parks for COVID-19 as soon as possible.
He remarked that the Da Nang government has already approved to extend virus lockdown period from 14 days to at least 21 days as a precaution for local places linked to positive cases. Lockdown extension in these places will depend upon the specific circumstances of each of these places in line with Viet Nam’s national regulations.
Da Nang People’s Committee Chairman Le Trung Chinh said drastic decrease of transmission in Da Nang is showing positive signals in the fight against COVD-19.
Chairman Chinh also highlighted the importance of keeping vigilant and taking precautions for reducing the risk of disease transmission in the city.
Mr Chinh asked the district authorities to make plans for supporting local low-income families through hardship amid the coronavirus crisis.
Da Nang registered one new positive case of COVID-19 on May 20, bringing the total cases in the city to 147 till date since the new coronavirus wave hit the city on May 3, according to latest figures released by the municipal Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control.
Till date, the city has identified 100 COVID-19 hotspots and 29 residential settings as the so-called “medical self-quarantine areas”, put 51 residential settings under lockdown.
Staff of the Da Nang Centre for Disease Control and Preventation and authorised medical facilities, on May 20, conducted COVID-19 testing for 36,670 people.
Since May 3, the city has conducted tests on 239,035 people for the virus.
All companies operating in Da Nang have strictly followed the 5K recommendations of the Vietnamese Health Ministry, namely khau trang (facemask), khu khuan (disinfection), khoang cach (distance), khong tu tap (no gathering), and khai bao y te (health declaration), and stay compliant with the city’s COVID-19 regulations.
The functional agencies are working closely with the district authorities and authorities of industrial parks in Da Nang to continue their efforts to check their infection preventation and control measures in the workplace in a bid to make sure that all of them are fully comply with the city’s COVID-19 rules and regulations with the aim of fulfilling their ‘ dual goals’ of tackling the pandemic and keeping their production stable.
