Striving to build Da Nang into startup, innovation hub in Central Viet Nam-Central Highlands

Recommendations and proposals on the building of Da Nang into a startup and innovation hub in Central Viet Nam and Central Highlands regions were delivered by some candidates for the upcoming elections of deputies to the 15th National Assembly (NA) for the 2021-2026 tenure at an online meeting with Da Nang voters held on Tuesday morning by the municipal Fatherland Front Committee.

Amongst the five candidates in Da Nang’s constituency No.2 covering Son Tra, Ngu Hanh Son, Cam Le, Hoa Vang and Hoang Sa districts is municipal Party Committee Secretary Nguyen Van Quang, the city’s top leader.

Delivering his action plans, Secretary Quang pledged that if elected as a deputy to the 15th NA, he would perform his duties to the best of his ability and responsibilities to satisfy Da Nang voters’ high expectations.

In particular, he will pay attention to urging the NA to direct the implementation of Resolution No. 119/2020/QH14 dated 19 June, 2020 on the pilot organisation of the model of urban government in Da Nang, and a number of specific mechanisms and policies for Da Nang’s development, especially its stature as a hub of finance, startup and innovation in the Central Viet Nam and Central Highlands regions.

In addition, the municipal Party chief will do his best to facilitate citizens and businesses to access support amidst the financially difficult times triggered by COVID-19 resurgence.

Another candidate, Da Nang Trade Union Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Dung, vowed to advise the NA and the national government to create more favourable conditions for Da Nang so that it can promote its sea-based, eco-tourism in tandem with ensuring sustainable economic development associated with environmental protection. She, in particular, will take measures to enhance the material, cultural and spiritual life of workers, especially those working in local industrial parks and immigrants.

For his part, municipal Labour Federation Chairman Nguyen Duy Minh will come up with ideas to support fishermen to maintain their fishing trips to Viet Nam’s territorial waters so as to secure their livelihoods in parallel with joining the protection of the country’s territorial sovereignty.

He also promised to seek feasible ways to increase the rate of trained workers, enhance professional qualifications and skills, and working style for the sake of better labour productivity, and creating stable jobs for more residents.

Chief of Office of the municipal Department of Justice Le Thi Xuan Nga showed her interest in joining in law-making work to contribute to perfecting the Vietnamese legal system in a synchronous, unified and feasible manner and meet international integration and national development requirements in the current context. Besides, she pledged to make her contribution to effectively implementing central policies on the city’s development.

Nguyen Thi Kim Thuy, Standing Member of the N.A Committee for Social Affairs promised to pay more attention to joining the adoption of policies and laws on ensuring people's lives, especially low-income earners, retirees, social policy families, the poor, students, women and children.

In addition, she will urge the national government to mull over establishing the National University of Da Nang, in association with the development of Da Nang University Urban Area project.

As per expectations of voters, the would-be deputies must urge the NA to adopt a reasonable policies and mechanisms on implementing key projects in Da Nang such as the relocation of Da Nang railway station, the construction of Lien Chieu mega-port and the Da Nang University Urban Area.

Moreover, the national government should release a preferential mechanism for the development of infrastructure, socio-cultural institutions, service facilities and most importantly human resources for the city in the time ahead.
