Da Nang public enthusiastic to make donations to fight against COVID-19
Over recent days, the Da Nang Committee of the Viet Nam Fatherland Front (VFF) has received large amounts of donations in cash from the city-based businesses and residents to support the country’s COVID-19 prevention and control missions.

Chairman of the Da Nang Committee of VFF Ngo Xuan Thang highly appreciated donors for their good deeds and high responsibility towards the community, thus significantly contributing to supporting the COVID-19 containment efforts.
All of the donations will be used for COVID-19 prevention and control in hospitals, medical quarantine sites, and blockaded areas, as well as support the purchase of biological products, medical supplies and vaccines against COVID-19.
“It can be said that the companionship of organisations, businesses and individuals right now is extremely urgent and very precious”, said Thang.
Truong Anh Khoa, a 15-year-old teenager residing at 74 Phan Ke Binh, Thuan Phuoc Ward, Hai Chau District), a pupil at the Kim Dong Junior High School, said he had contributed VND 500,000 to the country’s prevention and control missions through the Da Nang Committee of VFF.
In addition, the boy voluntarily sent his ‘COVID NK’ message from his mobile phone to number 1408 so as to donate VND50,000 to the COVID-19 Vaccine Fund.
As guided by the national text-to-donate programme, ‘N’ is any number from 1 to 2,000, and ‘K’ stands for the unit of thousand Vietnamese dong. For example, a text message reading ‘COVID 50K’ means a donation of VND50,000 to the Fund.
More recently, the Da Nang Committee of VFF received VND1 billion from Petrolimex DA NANG, VND500 million from the Da Nang International Terminal Investment and Operation Joint Stock Company (AHT), VND300 million from the Da Nang Port JSC, along with valuable contributions made by other Da Nang-based businesses.
From May 10 to the end of June 8, more than 40 organisations, businesses and individuals across the city made contributions and donation pledges of more than VND 35.8 billion in total to the country’s combat against COVID-19.
This clearly demonstrates a high consensus and enthusiasm amongst the city’s general public to support the country’s virus elimination goal and realise the target of reducing recovery and speed up socio-economic development.
The Fund will be used for buying COVID-19 vaccines from abroad and for supporting the production of made-in-Viet Nam vaccines towards fulfilling the target of reaching herd immunity.
The Vietnamese Ministry of Health expects to purchase 150 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine to immunise about 75 million out of Viet Nam’s population of 98 million people at an estimated cost of VND25.2 trillion
Of that amount, the cost of purchasing vaccines will be about VND21 trillion, while the rest will be spent on transportation, storage, and injection.
The Da Nang Committee of VFF is, for the time being, encouraging benefactors inside and outside the city, with their deep affection and high responsibility towards the community, to make even more contributions to the COVID-19 containment goal.
All donations should be sent to the headquarters of the Da Nang Committee of VFF at 12 Tran Phu, Thach Thang Ward, Hai Chau District with phone: 02363.837201, 02363.818385, and account No. 3761.0.9041876.91999 at the Da Nang Branch of the State Treasury.
