The Da Nang Youth Union on Saturday morning officially kicked off its Summer Volunteer Campaign 2021 for its members.

Unlike previous years, we did not hold a grand opening ceremony for this year’s event amid the complex developments of COVID-19, municipal Youth Union Secretary Nguyen Manh Dung said.

This year’s campaign will engage youth union members in a wide range of practical activities that support the city’efforts in the fight against COVID-19, Mr Dung remarked.

The municipal Youth Union kicked off activities on Saturday morning to mark this year’s event with providing livelihood support for three young people in difficult circumstances, visiting and giving gifts to youth union members of Thanh Khe District who are staffing at a COVID-19 checkpoint in the Da Nang Railway Station.

This year’s event will cover a wide range of activities under such campaigns as Green Summer, Red Phoenix Flower, Giving Strength in the Exam Season programme, Pink Vacation, and Winter Vacation.

In addition, local youth union members will get involved in such activities as volunteering to donate blood at the city’s blood drives, and signing up as volunteers to support frontline staff in helping residents declare their heath status, collecting swab samples for COVID-19 testing from local residents, and transporting essential items for frontline health workers.  

Every summer, young people across Da Nang actively get involved in various charitable and social activities. They leave a deep impression on local residents in places where they conduct their volunteer work thanks to their dedication and enthusiasm.
