Transporting relief goods to blockaded areas in Nai Hien Dong Ward
On Nai Hien Dong 9 Street, a volunteer group here quickly got off a truck to unload goods, each serving included rice and necessities, then put them on tables available in the middle of this street.
Through the temporary fence dividing the road in half, locals here received gifts, exchanged glances of thanks and quickly came back home. Each relief gift-giving session lasted only 15 minutes but it was enough to make people here warm.
According to Pham Do Cung Pha, a volunteer in Nai Hien Dong Ward, transporting goods into the quarantine area has faced many difficulties due to the presence of many checkpoints. Therefore, sometimes, volunteers have to deliver goods to the right place or send them to representatives of the residential groups or the community-based COVID-19 task force for later distribution to those kept in zone-off sites.
Although the heavy workload under the scorching heat made volunteers sweaty, everyone has tried their hardest to work as quickly and safely as possible.
“We hit the road again whenever having relief goods”
25-year-old volunteer Ngo Linh Em has participated in transporting essential goods to those in need since the first day of the mandatory quarantine order coming into force in the ward regardless of day or night shifts.
