Financial and in-kind support for people in need in Da Nang and COVID-19 affected localities

As part of the organistion’s program "Sharing love and joining efforts to fight COVID-19", the Da Nang Women's Union on August 8 received VND 5 billion in financial support from Petrovietnam Gas Joint Stock Corporation (PV GAS).

Ms. Hoang Thi Thu Huong, the Chairman of the municipal Women's Union, said that donated money will go to help needy women across the city through the chapters of the organization at district level.

The Da Nang Women's Union plans to distribute 5,000 gifts valued at VND 300,000 each across the city, of which, 1,000 gifts will be given to the worst-hit Son Tra District. In the coming time, municipal Women's Union will work with Phu Nhuan Jewelry Joint Stock Company (PNJ) and the municipal Female Entrepreneur Association to organise a ‘zero-dong supermarket’ in a bid to bring 1,500 gifts to poor women in the city.

The Da Nang Red Cross Society has distributed 47,212 COVID-19 information leaflets across the city and raised more than 4 billion VND from local individuals and organizations to provide nearly 121,000 face masks, 15,638 bars of soap, and 2,492 gifts for people with tough lives and facing difficult situations.

In addition, the chapters of the associations across the city have provided assistance with transporting 5 tons of food and essential items to Ho Chi Minh City to support people in the hardest hit locality in Viet Nam. Besides, 4,000 gifts have been given to people who were on their way back to their home from Ho Chi Minh City and travelled through Da Nang. Over VND 120 million and thousands of meals have been offered to people in local lockdown areas and workers who are on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic. Moreover,150 million VND have gone to support struggling families and vulnerable people in Ho Chi Minh City, Dong Nai and Binh Duong provinces.

The Da Nang Red Cross Society is making appeals for donations from organisations and individuals across the country to help people who are struggling financially due to the effects of COVID-19 in Da Nang and Southern affected localities. Donations can be sent to the headquarters of the Da Nang Red Cross Society, 522 Ong Ich Khiem Street or directly into its bank account which is 004 100 001 0776 at the Da Nang Branch of Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Foreign Trade of Vietnam (Vietcombank) .
