Over 1,630 tons of rice granted to Da Nang, 300,000 chicken eggs for struggling families

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on Friday issued the Decision No. 1415/QD-TTg to take more than 130,000 tonnes of rice from the national reserve to allocate to 24 COVID-19 affected cities and provinces across the country.

More than 8.6 million people in 24 provinces and cities nationwide are in need of emergency food relief due to the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, according to the Ministry of Labour, Invalid and Social Affair.

According to the ministry, the fourth coronavirus wave seriously affected people’s lives in Viet Nam, especially laid-off workers or those who lost their jobs and had their incomes reduced, making them face the increasing threat of hunger.

The ministry received reports from 24 provinces and cities that are implementing social distancing orders under the Prime Minister’s Directive 16.

Da Nang  will receive over 1,630 tons of rice, and Can Tho City will be granted over 5,015 tons of rice, Binh Thuan Province  with over 4,018 tons of rice and  Ho Chi Minh City with over 71,104 tons of rice.

The Da Nang Committee of Viet Nam Fatherland Front (VFF) Friday morning received 300,000 chicken eggs worth 600 million VND in total donated by the Hoa Phuoc Ut Ly Egg Facility to support people who are facing financial hardship due to COVID-19.

Mr Pham Phu Binh, Chief of Office of the Da Nang Committee of VFF thanked Hoa Phuoc Ut Ly Egg Facility for their kind gesture and great efforts in helping the city to provide timely support for poor families amid COVID-19 crisis.

In 2020, Hoa Phuoc Ut Ly Egg Facility donated VND 500 million to support the city’s efforts in the battle against COVID-19.
