In recent days, besides patrolling and on-duty at checkpoints, Da Nang police officers have always been active in doing the shopping for residents and buying medicine for them. Especially, it is worth praising that these ‘unsung heros’ have acted as "active supporters" who are ready to take sick and injured people, and even pregnant women showing signs of labour, to hospital, in a timely and prompt fashion, while the city is under strict stay-at-home orders.

Over the past week, Lieutenant Nguyen Thanh Lam, a police officer of Hoa Cuong Bac Ward, Hai Chau District, has been busy dispensing medicines, food, and supporting the collection of nasal swab samples from about 100 locals residing in Halla Jade Residences.

In addition, Lieutenant Lam is also in charge of 9 other residential groups in tandem with patrolling around with the mobile patrol team here and for functional local forces to maintain social security during his nightshift. Although his daily workload is large, it is arranged in the most reasonable way for more efficient performance at work.

On August 22 afternoon, Ms. Truong Huyen Tran, residing in An Hai Bac Ward, Son Tra District, went into labor but didn’t know how to be hospitalized for birth delivery, so she called the local police to ask for help.

Fortunately, less than 20 minutes later, An Hai Bac Ward’s police officers were present at her house to take the would-be mother to the Family Da Nang Hospital and enthusiastically drove her two young children to her best friend's house in Hai Chau District for care during absence from home.

On the same night, 4-year-old baby Nguyen Tran Thanh Hang in An Hai Bac Ward, was in emergency condition with a high fever and convulsions. Without hesitation, Major Nguyen Xuan Cuong, Deputy Chief of the An Hai Bac Ward Police used his own car to rush her to the Son Tra District Medical Centre.

However, she had to be transferred to the Da Nang Hospital for Maternity and Pediatrics for emergency treatment due to her critical condition. Major Cuong once again did not hesitate to bring Hang's relatives home to arrange necessaries and then transported them to the hospital.

During just a short time of a week, the An Hai Bac Ward police promptly has helped four emergency cases and quickly mobilised vehicles to bring sick locals to hospital as soon as possible.

Lieutenant Nguyen Xuan Thien from the Hoa Chau Commune Police, Hoa Vang District, along with local Youth Union members, has managed to seek frozen breast milk for use by the 3-day-old baby of  Mr Pham Phu Thinh living  in residential group No.5, Dong Hoa Village.

"I am really touched by the fact that the images of police soldiers serving the people’s lives are so beautiful and precious during this difficult time”, said Thinh.
