Da Nang police soldiers's great dedication for the sake of community
Over recent days, Da Nang has gradually re-operated some daily activities in low-risk areas but the strict practice of COVID-19 prevention and control measures is still in place. Police soldiers working in the fight against the deadly virus are still on duty all the clock even when heavy rains make the accomplishment of their assigned tasks more difficult and challenging. Donating platelets to save patients in a critical condition, protecting fire safety in residential areas citywide are amongst the outstanding tasks police soldiers must fulfill apart from being on duty at COVID-19 quarantine checkpoints across the city.
According to Major Hoang Quoc Hai, Captain of the Fire Prevention and Fighting and Rescue Department of Thanh Khe District Police on duty at the quarantine checkpoint on Nguyen Tri Phuong Street, aside from checking road users’ travel permits, he always reminds them not to go out in unnecessary circumstances even though the pandemic has somewhat subsided.
These days, the erratic weather of middle September makes the duties at checkpoints more difficult, affecting officers and soldiers’ health here. Thanks to using QR Code, duties at checkpoints have seemed to be more convenient and smooth during this rainy season. Expired travel permits will be withdrawn, and shippers passing through the checkpoints but having no protective clothing or anti-drop shield will be strictly handled according to the regulations.
According to Lieutenant Colonel Truong Huy Chuong, Deputy Chief of Thanh Khe District Police, not only did our police forces perform well at the quarantine checkpoints, but they also performed well in ensuring fire safety in the locality. On September 3, a fire broke out at a resident’s property located at 44 Hoang Hoa Tham Street, Mr Hai and his teammates quickly set off and coordinated with the Tan Chinh Ward Police to take the trapped locals outside safety and quickly fight against the fire.
In addition, officers and soldiers here are always willing to give timely support if people face broken-down vehicles or in case of emergencies. Typically, Senior Lieutenant Nguyen Ngoc Hau, an officer of the Thanh Khe District Police Criminal Police, as soon as hearing a patient had emergency surgery at the Da Nang Cancer Hospital, immediately headed to the hospital to donate a rare blood group AB platelet for treatment despite his hard work at checkpoints.
During the mid-September days, the weather was erratic with heavy rains and strong winds, but the solidarity of the forces on duty has been even closer. They eat, talk together and encourage one another to overcome difficulties and successfully complete assigned tasks.
For more than a month, these officers and soldiers have not been able to return to their families. They have rushed in the middle of the battle against the pandemic and are always willing to help when people need them. The COVID-19 pandemic will definitely pass but the image of police officers and soldiers serving for the sake of people will forever remain in the deepest parts of Da Nang residents’ hearts.
