Due to the severe impacts of the COVID-19 wave, during days of tougher COVID-19 curbs, Da Nang-based armed forces have worked with relevant agencies to organise the so-called 'zero- VND' food selling points in a bid to support poverty-stricken households, social policy beneficiaries and the disabled, Agent Orange victims and vulnerable ones,.

Fully aware of the suffering of people living in medical quarantine and blockaded areas, the Da Nang Military High Command has recently delivered 700 servings of green vegetables and food worth a sum of VND 91 million, funded by the contributions made by officers and soldiers, to those in the city’s designated quarantine areas in the Son Tra and Cam Le, Lien Chieu, Thanh Khe districts. These practical gifts of the soldiers are regarded as a source of greatly spiritual encouragement for the quarantined in the ongoing tough time.

Mrs Nguyen Thi Mai, Hoa Khanh Nam Ward, Lien Chieu District, one of the recipients, said that " Our lives are completely difficult right now, but vegetables, fruits and instant noodles gave by the army have touched the deepest part of my heart. I believe that the attention and support of the army and the local authorities to people will help us feel at ease to join our efforts in a fight against the pandemic"

In addition, the Military High Command of 7 districts have joined hands to take over and operate "Zero-VND” sales points to ensure sufficient and timely supplies of foods and essential products for poor households, social policy beneficiaries, and the unemployed. Especially, the budget for these free sales points came from the movement "Raising piggy banks" and "Rice jars for the poor" of cadres and soldiers and sponsors. Till date, the amount of money to buy essential foods is worth up to VND40-60 million per unit.

Moreover, the militia force Hoa Nhon Commune chapter, Hoa Vang District, continues to head to their 150m2-sized farm to increase production, harvest, and provide hundreds of bunches of vegetables of all kinds to the people in quarantine areas.

The “Fairs of kindness", "Zero-VND sales points", thousands of gifts and essential items worth over VND 600 million of the 5th Military Region of Vietnam People's Army, Da Nang armed forces, businesses, and donors have made practical contributions to the city’s government in taking care of people's lives during the pandemic, with the motto of  ‘Won’t let anyone left behind’

On the whole, practical contributions of armed forces, police and self-defence forces in assisting Da Nang people in the pandemic not only have left a beautiful impression on locals but also contribute to enriching the tradition of Uncle Ho’s soldiers and consolidating the relationship between the army and residents; thus demonstrating the spirit of the People's Army of Vietnam always serving for the sake of the Vietnamese people.
