The system is equipped with 4 IP cameras with 360-degree rotation, 4 multi-lane traffic tachometers for automatic day and night monitoring, 4 automatic number plate recognition cameras, 10 red light surveillance cameras and 8 handheld tablets.

This monitoring system helps to automatically detect violations such as driving exceeding the speed limit, travelling in wrong lanes, reckless overtaking, illegally stopping or parking vehicles, carelessly ignoring traffic lights and running in the opposite direction. All recorded images will be synchronously connected and transmitted to the monitoring centre of the Da Nang Traffic Police Division.

According to Colonel Phan Ngoc Truyen, Head of the Da Nang Traffic Police Division  the introduction of the surveillance camera system helps to reduce the pressure on traffic police officers who have long been regularly patrolling the National Highway 1A which usually see a high volume of traffic, thus contributing to modernising patrol and control work.

Major General Le Xuan Duc, the Deputy Head of the Viet Nam Traffic Police  General Department said: “The special thing about this system is that the monitoring devices operate independently, capable of multi-lane traffic monitoring and automatically detecting violations of road traffic rules under different weather conditions. In addition, this system also integrates with the database on population, the stolen and expired vehicles for timely warnings.
