On Sunday morning, the Trade Union organisation of Da Nang Hi-Tech Park and Industrial Zones presented 1,716 gifts, totalling VND948 million, to its members who have been stuck in difficulties triggered by COVID-19.

In particular, 216 gifts, each worth VND3 million, went to union members who were once patients with confirmed SARS‐CoV‐2 infection. Also, 1,500 "Welfare packages of Trade Union", valued at VND200,000 each, were given to workers facing financial hardship due to COVID-19.

Mrs. Huynh Thi Phuc, a worker of the Murata Vietnam Co., Ltd. based in Hoa Khanh Industrial Park, Lien Chieu District, expressed her joy and gratitude to the municipal Trade Union after receiving cash support.

“I unfortunately contracted COVID-19 and had to take a long time off work for medical treatment and isolation according to the city’s regulations. After recovering from the illness, I was facilitated to return to work. With spirit encouragement and support from the company’s Trade Union organization, I felt warm-hearted and motivated to overcome my current difficulties” said Mrs Phuc.

Municipal Labour Confederation Chairman Nguyen Duy Minh remarked, the fourth wave of COVID-19 infections in Da Nang directly impacted workers and industrial zones. In the whole city, more than 180 businesses with trade unions had their operation suspended, and, as a result, 13,000 workers lost their jobs.

In that context, the Da Nang Labour Confederation has carried out many solutions to help city-based enterprises to overcome their current difficulties, and support their members and employees affected by COVID-19.

To date, the Da Nang Trade Union and its chapters citywide have given hundreds of thousands of gifts with a total amount of over VND 38 billion to union members affected by COVID-19.

On this occasion, the Da Nang Zaloha Insurance Supermarket and Da Nang Postal Insurance (PTI) offered 1,000 motorbike insurance cards, totalling VND66 million, to workers in industrial parks.
