26 works win municipal-level Press Awards 2020
A ceremony took place in Da Nang on November 19 to honour the winners of the Press Awards 2020 at national and municipal levels.

In attendance at the event were Da Nang Party Committee Deputy Secretary cum municipal People's Council Chairman Luong Nguyen Minh Triet, People’s Committee Vice Chairwoman cum Head of the organising board of this year’s Press Awards Ngo Thi Kim Yen, Vice Chairman of the Viet Nam Journalists' Association Mai Duc Loc, Deputy Director of the Standing Agency of the Central Department of Publicity and Training in Da Nang Ha Phuoc Thieu, and other invited guests.

In his remarks at the event, Chairman of the Da Nang Journalists' Association cum Editor-in-chief of the Da Nang Newspaper Nguyen Duc Nam said, despite being held later than previous years due to the complicated development of COVID-19 pandemic, this year’s awards ceremony still attracted a large number of press agencies across the city.

He said that entries for the final round were outstanding works in terms of content, format and audience orientation. This year saw an increasing number of serial works. Most of works showed social impact effects and were discoverable, critical, commendable and constructive.
Addressing the event, Vice Chairwoman of the municipal People's Committee Ngo Thi Kim Yen remarked, in recent years, Da Nang has recorded positive growth in all aspects of economy - society, defence - security, etc., and gradually become a driving force for the Central Viet Nam and Central Highlands regions.
“Media agencies have made important contributions to the city’s progress. With their talents, passion, and creativity through their works, reporters and editors of central and local newspapers and radio stations effectively contributed to improving the spiritual and cultural lives as well as building up the morality, lifestyle, and personality of Da Nang people. Not only serving political tasks, journalistic works significantly contributed to consolidating and raising the public’s confidence in the Party's leadership" said Vice Chairwoman Yen.
According to Mrs Yen, press awards in 2020 and 2021 took place in the special context of complicated developments of COVID-19. And, reporters immersed themselves in difficult moments to create such journalistic works of true value which fully reflected all aspects of life. The 26 prize winning works today were 26 crystallized products of the creative spirit and dedication of the city's journalists.
Vice Chairwoman Yen also took the opportunity to express her gratitude to media agencies in general and reporters in particular for their active involvement in the construction and development of the city over the past times.
She also hoped that reporters in the city always maintained political bravery and professional expertise to create qualify works to deserve the trust of the government and people of Da Nang.

The judge board received 144 entries of 186 reporters from 24 national and local media agencies based in the city.
Also at the event, 6 first, 6 second, 8 third and 6 consolation prizes were awarded to the outstanding entrants.
Amongst the winners were reporters from the DA NANG Newspaper who received 1 first, 1 third and 3 consolation prizes.

On the occasion, the Viet Nam Journalists’ Association awarded the B prize of the National Press Awards 2020 for the work "Clean sprouts" by a group of authors Nguyen Thi Phong Lan (Phong Lan), Dang Quang Tan (Quang Tan), Vo Nhat Hoang (Nhat Hoang), and Tran Thi Net (Ngoc Net), all from the Da Nang Radio and Television Station, and a consolation prize for the “'Made- in-Da Nang' software products on growing trend work" by author Nguyen Huy Khang Ninh (Phong Lan) from the Da Nang Newspaper.

To mark the event, 10 individuals were presented recognition medals from the municipal Journalists' Association for their great dedication to the press.
