Additional 7 women honoured with 'Heroic Mother' title

A solemn ceremony took place in Da Nang on Tuesday, November 2, to award the ‘Heroic Vietnamese Mother’ title on additional 7 women whose husbands and children have laid down their lives for national reunification.

The event was with the presence of municipal Party Committee Secretary Nguyen Van Quang, Party Committee Deputy Secretary cum People's Council Chairman Luong Nguyen Minh Triet, People’s Committee Chairman Le Trung Chinh, People’s Committee Vice Chairman Ngo Thi Kim Yen, other representatives from the city authorities, and relatives of the honourees.

On behalf of the city leaders, municipal People’s Committee Chairman Le Trung Chinh expressed his deep gratitude to heroic Vietnamese mothers for their great service in the national revolution.

“Da Nang is now home to a combined total of 3,374 heroic Vietnamese mothers, 124 of whom are still alive. This is an opportunity for us to honour and express our infinite gratitude to heroes, martyrs and people with meritorious services to the country and the national revolution” remarked Chairman Chinh.

He also informed, over recent years, the authorities and people of Da Nang have always promoted the national traditions of 'when drinking water, think of its source'. Every year, significant amount of money from the city budget and other financial sources goes to help social policy families build new houses or repair their downgraded ones, as well as give annual allowances to local policy beneficiaries.
