Building Da Nang into safe city free from violence against women and children
Over the past recent years, the prevention and control of violence against women and children in Da Nang have gained many positive achievements. This is the premise towards building a safe city free from violence against women and children.

Numerous quality models
The municipal Women's Union (WU) annually directs units to review, consolidate, maintain and build new models, clubs being suitable for the local situation to solve issues related to women and children.
Accordingly, associations under the municipal WU continue to maintain activities such as male advocates clubs pioneering violence prevention against women and girls; domestic violence prevention and control; maintaining ‘Mock Trial’ in residential areas; ‘Safe ride to school for children’; propaganda programme ‘Accompanying - For children’s safety’ at primary schools as well as maintaining the performance of trusted addresses.
So far, Da Nang has consolidated, built and replicated 905 models and clubs with 7,584 participants.
In particular, the establishment of 16 male advocates clubs pioneering in preventing violence against women and children in Hai Chau and Hoa Vang districts has promoted propaganda and raised awareness on gender equality, in tandem with calling for the participation of men in preventing and combating violence against women and children
Thanks to these above-mentioned activities, clubs and associations at all levels have participated in addressing 89 cases of violations of rights and interests of women and children; consulting and supporting 2,665 cases; receiving and processing 188 petitions about domestic violence, marriage and family, sexual abuse of women and children; successfully propagated, consulted and reconciled a host of cases related to marriage and family.
Strengthen mobilization of society to make gender equality and ensure safety for women and children
For the time being, WU units at all levels have concentrated on renovating the content and form of propaganda and raising awareness for WU members on the importance of ensuring safety for women and children.
Aside from that, media activities via websites, social networking pages have generated a major impact on raising awareness about gender equality and the prevention of violence against women and girls.
The highlight of this activity is the program "Orange colour – Light up and go head" coming along with the event of lighting orange lights at Han River Bridge and Dragon Bridge, demonstrating the city's commitment to preventing and combating violence against women children.
From the practice and actual results achieved by the movement, Da Nang Women's Union has successfully researched the city-level scientific project ‘Solutions to build Da Nang to be a safe city free from violence against women and girls’, in tandem with implementing Project 1006 on building Da Nang- a safe city free from violence against women and girls for period 2021 - 2025, vision towards 2035.
On the whole, the Da Nang Women’s Union’s activities have demonstrated the role of the unit in taking care of and protecting women's legitimate rights and interests; at the same time, promoting propaganda to raise awareness and sense of responsibility of authorities at all levels and people of all strata; in tandem with enhancing active response and strong participation of the whole society on the implementation of gender equality and for the advancement of women
