Addressing the opening ceremony of the 14^th Da Nang Women's Congress in the 2021 - 2026 term, municipal Party Committee Secretary cum Head of the city's National Assembly (NA) Deputies' delegation Nguyen Van Quang underlined a need for the city's Women's Union (WU) to build itself into a strong, pioneering association for the sake of a safe, friendly and happy city.

The top city leader pointed tout to the fact that the COVID-19 surge has developed in a complicated and unpredictable way, negatively affecting many aspects of social life. Therefore, the municipal Women's Union should focus on encouraging even more women to participate in the post-COVID-19 recovery process, especially in the economic field and job creation.

Also, heed should be paid to improving the quality of emulation movements and campaigns associated with the effective implementation of the ‘5 No’s, 3 Yes’s’, the 'City of 4 Safe Programmes', the ‘Da Nang – Environmentally-friendly City’ and the ‘Building the image of Vietnamese women in a new era’ movements with specific and appropriate criteria, bearing the unique identity of Da Nang women.

The city Party chief suggested that the municipal Women’s Union chapters at all levels improve their qualifications and capacity and innovate their organisational activities. In particular, focus should be placed on training highly qualified grassroots female cadres.

Speaking at the congress, Ms. Bui Thi Hoa, Vice President of the Central Committee of the Viet Nam Women's Union highly praised the Da Nang Women's Union for encouraging a large number of female members to actively participate in municipal and national movements and programmes during the past term.

In the coming time, Vice President Hoa proposed the municipal Women Union’s chapters at all levels to engage more women in post-COVID-19 economic recovery programmes through the startup programme and the linkage between local women with organizations and businesses for economic development.

At the Congress, the Da Nang Women's Union was honoured to receive an emulation flag from the national government whilst an individual from this association received a Certificate of Merit from the Prime Minister.
