Da Nang focuses on restoring production, economic development in tandem with COVID-19 containment

Addressing a working session on Monday with the Da Nang Party Committee leaders on some outstanding results the city has recorded over the past time, National Assembly (NA) Vice Chairman Sen. Lieut. Gen. Tran Quang Phuong highly recommended that the city focus on restoring production, accelerating the economy, paying more attention to digital economic infrastructure, science and technology and innovation, and creating breakthroughs in these fields to bring a new facelift to the city.

The key municipal leaders, namely Da Nang Party Committee Secretary Nguyen Van Quang, Party Committee Deputy Secretary cum municipal People's Council Chairman Luong Nguyen Minh Triet, and Party Committee Deputy Secretary cum municipal People's Committee Chairman Le Trung Chinh, attended the meeting.

Make many recommendations on important contents

According to a report delivered by municipal People's Committee Chairman Le Trung Chinh, since the beginning of 2021, in the light of the complicated developments of COVID-19, Da Nang has well done the ‘dual’ tasks of pandemic prevention and control, while promoting investment attraction and restoration economic growth.

Encouragingly, Da Nang has recorded many important results. Notably, as of November 7, the total state budget revenue had reached more than VND 18,119 billion, equaling 83.2% of the year’s estimate.

In particular, the city leaders have regularly directed the handling of the “bottlenecks” in investment procedures, planning, land use right, construction, clearance and compensation, along with speeding up startups and implementation of a number of large-scale and key projects to promote the disbursement of investment capital.

Chairman Chinh proposed that under the guidance of the NA, national ministries and branches should soon advise the national government to issue the amendments and supplements to Decree No. 144/2016/ND-CP dated November 1, 2016 stipulating the implementation of a number of on special mechanisms for Da Nang in terms of investment, finance, budgetary status, and decentralisation, and the establishment of a regional financial centre, a non-tariff zone, a national innovation startup centre in Da Nang, and the turning of the University of Da Nang into a national university.

Addressing the working session, Deputy Secretary Triet said that local voters would like the Party, State and NA leaders to pay more attention to building Da Nang into a big political, economic, cultural and social hub in parallel with releasing some specific preferential policies to create motivation for Da Nang’s development.

Restoring production, accelerating economic development

NA Vice Chairman Sen. Lieut. Gen. Tran Quang Phuong highly applauded Da Nang for its many innovative and breakthrough ways in COVID-19 containment such as contact tracing, narrow zoning and preventing the spread of the virus in a rapid yet effective manner, thus setting a bright example for other localities nationwide to follow.

Besides, Party and government building featuring with many creative solutions and national defense - security has been well guaranteed.

In the coming time, it is a must-do for Da Nang to perform well the COVID-19 prevention and control in safe and flexible adaptation conditions.

Amongst the coronavirus containment solutions to, the way to raise public awareness must be a top priority. 

In addition, it is necessary to focus on economic development and production restoration, with a focus on boosting digital economic infrastructure, science and technology and innovation and creating breakthroughs in these fields to quickly develop the city.
