Da Nang Youth strive for sake of secured social welfare
Over the past time, along with participating in COVID-19 prevention and control duties, the Da Nang Youth Union’s chapters at all levels have always paid special attention to social welfare with a host of programmes for loan provisions, job creations and livelihood supportive acts to the poor and the vulnerable as well.
For nearly a month now, Tran Thi Yen Nhi, a 3rd-year student of the University of Education- the University of Da Nang has been busy with the procedure of borrowing VND 80 million from the Son Tra District chapter of Social Policy Bank to open her dream bakery through An Hai Dong ward-based Youth Union’s recommendation.
Similarly, Mr Pham Ngoc Dung, residing in Hoa Hai Ward, Ngu Hanh Son District has just reopened his home-based small grocery thanks to VND 2 million presented by the district-based Youth Union plus a little amount of money borrowed from his relatives after a long break due to the pandemic.
As shared by fisherman Nguyen Van Co, residing in Hoa Hiep Nam Ward, Lien Chieu District- who has just received a ‘welfare medicine bag’ from the municipal Youth Union, even though the ‘medicine bag’ doesn’t carry a great value, but it shows the understanding and care of City Youth Union to fishermen like him. They also feel more secure and warm in their hearts when heading to the sea with this meaningful small gift.
Strongly engage with the city in ensuring social welfare
In the words of Ms Ho Thi Viet Nga, Vice President of Ngu Hanh Son district chapter of Youth Union, the unit soon determined that social welfare duties must be carried out in parallel with pandemic prevention and control due to knowing the complication of COVID-19.
Till date, in addition to mobilizing nearly 2,000 gifts for poor households, needy students and unemployed workers, the unit has given livelihood options to 20 vulnerable youths locally, built a charitable house worth VND 50 million, given school relay gifts to 70 poor children. Especially, the district has 3,243 young people with preferential loans worth a total amount of VND 57.6 billion according to accumulation up to now.
Ms Nguyen Thi Tuyet Suong, Deputy Secretary of the An Hai Dong Ward chapter of Youth Union said that among 15 young people being introduced to get jobs in September and October 2021 in the ward, there are two disabled ones having chances to work at book coffee shops. In addition, the unit also supported 12 young people to borrow money from the district-based Bank for Social Policies with an amount of nearly VND 800 million to organize their business.
In particular, the past time has also marked a bold impression of Youth Union officials at all levels, who are not only pioneers in pandemic prevention and control activities but also support the poor as well as create jobs for the young.
Notably, Le Manh Tan, the Secretary of the Youth Union of Hoang Hoa Tham High School in Son Tra District, mobilized VND 200 million to support 200 students and helped 13 extremely difficult volunteers with an amount of VND 13 million. Ms Ho Nguyen Thuy Linh, Secretary of the Youth Union of Hoa Minh Ward, Lien Chieu District, mobilized from her relatives to support 100 gifts for poverty-stricken families, and volunteers facing difficulties owing to the pandemic.
Mr Dinh Ngoc Hieu, Deputy Secretary of the Youth Union of Hoa Khuong Commune, Hoa Vang District, actively introduced 120 youth union members in the commune to where staff are needed. Mr Huynh Thanh Quang, Youth Union officer of Quang ARMY Co., Ltd., timely mobilized and supported needy people with a total amount of VND1 billion in 2020 and 2021, in addition to creating jobs for more than 300 employees.
