On November 14, the Da Nang Women's Union organised the ‘Orange Da Nang - Light up and Take actions’ programme for sake of creating a safe city free of violence against women and girls.

Under the programme, the city's Women's Unions and its chapters at all levels got actively involved in mobilizing groups of citizens to raise their voice to end violence against girls and women, towards gender equality, as well as encouraging both women and girls to protect themselves by removing the mentality of inferiority and speaking out against injustice and violent behaviour.

Within the framework of the programme, the municipal Women's Union asked women to wear orange ‘ao dai’ in a series of upcoming events to celebrate the 2nd Da Nang Women's Congress for the 2021-2026 tenure and the 13th National Congress of Women's Deputies.

In her speech delivered at the event, Chairwoman of the municipal Women's Union Hoang Thi Thu Huong remarked that, over the past time, Da Nang government has issued many guidelines and policies on encouraging the community to join the effort to stop violence against women and girls.

Specifically, the municipal People's Committee has recently developed an action plan to create a safe city free of violence against women and girls during the 2020-2025 period, with a vision to 2035.

In the evenings of November 14 and 15, Da Nang is lighting up the Rong (Dragon) Bridge and the Han River Bridge in orange colour for one hour as a way to demonstrate its commitment to creating a safe city free of violence against women and girls.
