DA Nang People's Committee Vice Chairman Le Quang Nam appointed as Chairman of PEMSEA Network of Local Governments (PNLG)
DA Nang People's Committee Vice Chairman Le Quang Nam has taken the post of the Chairman of PEMSEA Network of Local Governments for Sustainable Coastal Development (PNLG) in the 2022 - 2025 term.

The announcement was made at the Annual Forum of the PNLG joining the Integrated Coastal Management (ICM) programme held on Wednesday.
The forum was hosted by the government of Preah Sihanouk Province in Cambodia in an online form with the participation of local government members in 10 countries in the East Asia and associate members from non-governmental organisations.
Speaking at the event, the new PNLG Chairman pledged to effectively fulfill all of his assigned tasks in accordance with the interests of the Seas of East Asia and the PNLG in tandem with serving the PNLG in accordance with the specific goals and orientations prescribed in the charter.
Speaking at the closing session of the PNLG forum on sustainable development in the East Asia the Da Nang leader reviewed the important results the forum achieved.
In detail, the forum featured the agreement on the PNLG Declaration entitled “PNLG Leadership for the Decade of Action for Sustainable Development of the Coasts and Oceans through Integrated Coastal Management, and the induction of Busan in Republic of Korea (RoK) as a new PNLG member.
The PNLG’s operations in the 2022 – 2030 term will be in line with global, regional, national and local goals for sustainable development and celebrates its 15th anniversary (2006 - 2021).
The Indonesian province of Tangerang will be the local government host of the 2022 PNLG Forum.
PNLG has demonstrated the effectiveness of stakeholder engagement in the implementation of its strategic action plans, in which capacity building played a core role. Heed has been paid to further strengthening partnerships with training centres and government partners of PEMSEA and others so as to promote integration and build capacity to implement action plans, emphasised Mr. Nam.
According to the Da Nang Department of Natural Resources and Environment, the PEMSEA-supported Integrated Coastal Management (ICM) programme has been implemented in Da Nang since the 2000s and has made significant contributions to the effective management of natural resources and the coastal environment in the city. In 2006, Da Nang officially joined the PNLG as one of the founding members.
That DA Nang People's Committee Vice Chairman Nam has appointed as the Chairman of PNLG in the 2022 - 2025 term helps enhance the position and role of the central Vietnamese city in the common sustainable development of the Seas of East Asia, in parallel with strengthening international cooperation in the field of marine resources and environment in the city in the future.
