Addressing a meeting on Monday with the Quang Nam Province leaders on reviewing bilateral cooperation and mutual support over the 5 years, Da Nang Party Committee Secretary Nguyen Van Quang suggested that the two localities need to map out orientations in development planning, which focuses on promoting strengths and advantages of each side for mutual development.

Outstanding achievement in bilateral cooperation

As reported at the event, Da Nang and Quang Nam Province have, over the past time, achieved many outstanding achievements in many aspects. Prominently, the two countries have jointly implemented the dredging of the Co Co River for driving their tourism development, the project of Da Nang University Village, and the development of the transport system connecting the two localities together.

In addition, bilateral cooperation projects in tourism, investment promotion, infrastructure construction, the management and exploitation of natural resources and minerals as well as education, health care, national defence and social security have been effectively implemented.

In the coming time, the two localities will propose to the Prime Minister and central committees and national ministries to soon approve the Master Plan for the University of Da Nang by 2025, with a vision towards 2035, and at the same time, additionally arrange medium-term capital sources to implement the Da Nang University Village project.

Also, the two localities will propose the national government to soon invest in expanding and upgrading national highways 14G, 14B, 14D during the 2021 - 2025 period.

In addition, on the basis of the adjusted Da Nang Master Plan by 2030 with a vision towards 2045 approved by the Prime Minister, Quang NPwill review the general planning for its eastern part that  borders Da Nang so as to ensure the connection of urban space and synchronous technical infrastructure between the two localities.

Also prominently, the traffic network connecting the two localities is increasingly developed. The management and exploitation of water resources from rivers flowing through the two localities, the operation of hydroelectric power plants on the Vu Gia - Thu Bon river system is being implemented   synchronously, meeting the increasing demand of production and daily life of the people.

“Those achievements have contributed to promoting the breakthrough development of Da Nang and Quang Nam Province, creating an increasingly high position and prestige for the whole country and in the central key economic zone in particular. This demonstrates great efforts and the spirit of solidarity and cohesion of generations of cadres, Party members, civil servants, public employees and people from all walks of life in the two localities during the process of building and developing the homeland of Quang Nam - Da Nang”, emphasised Quang Nam Provincial Party Committee Secretary Phan Viet Cuong.

Speeding up cooperative ties in the coming time

Chairman of Quang Nam Provincial People's Committee Le Tri Thanh assessed that, over the past time, the coordination between the two localities was very good, especially in information exchanges, conducting conferences and seminars during which the two sides shared the same points of views on some issues.

Standing Vice Chairman of the Da Nang People's Committee Ho Ky Minh emphasised a need to focus on jointly carrying out night-time tourism projects, promoting tourism products of the two localities and expanding transport connections.

In his perspectives, the Da Nang Party chief suggested that the two localities promote the advantages of each side, map out even more specific cooperation contents, ensure security and order in bordering areas to contribute to stabilising socio-economic development, and share experiences in Party building work.

On the same day, the Standing Board of the Quang Nam Provincial Party Committee and its Da Nang counterpart offered incense at the relic of the former Quang Da Special Zone in Duy Son Commune, Duy Xuyen District.

On this occasion, the Standing Board of Da Nang Party Committee awarded 50 gifts worth VND 100 million in total to social policy families in Duy Son Commune.
