Da Nang provides active support for social policy families
To mark the 75th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs' Day (July 27), authorities at all levels have been taking care of social policy families, and those who gave great service in the national revolution, along with Vietnamese heroic mothers.

Vice Chairman of the Hoa Hiep Bac Ward People’s Committee, Lien Chieu District Nguyen Minh Hoang said that there are 146 martyrs, 552 people who gave great service in the national revolution along with their relatives and 43 Vietnamese heroic mothers. The local authoritites have joined forces with other organisations to pay special attention to these people.
From 2017 to 2022, the local authorities have asked for financial support from the municipal government to build 23 new houses and repair 148 downgraded ones, with a total amount of VND 4.5 billion for those in need. In addition, the heed has been paid to giving gifts to martyrs’ children, war invalids and their children.
“To celebrate the 75th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs' Day, the Hoa Hiep Bac Ward People’s Committee will hold such meanningful events as a candle-lit ceremony at the local martyrs’ cemetery, and floating the flower garland and coloured lanterns on the Cu De River”, Mr. Hoang said.
Currently, there are 82 martyrs, 40 martyrs’ children, 68 revolutionary contributors and one Vietnamese heroic mother in Hoa Vang District'sHoa Bac Commune.
Vice Chairman of the Hoa Bac Commune People’s Committee said that apart from giving spiritual encouragment to social policy families and the Vietnamese heroic mother, the local authorities and organisations always excert every effort to handle housing problems for these people.
“It is expected that to mark the 75th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs' Day, the Hoa Bac Commune authorities will hold a meeting with local social policy families and revolutionary contributors, organise a requiem for the heroes and the martyrs, and offer gifts, free medical treatment and medicines for these people. Furthermore, the commune authorities will hand over 2 repaired houses and 5 newly-built ones to the revolutionary contributors”, said Mr. Thanh.
Most recently, work has started on a project on embellishing the temple of Vietnamese heroic mother Duong Thi Boi in Thac Gian Ward, Thanh Khe District.
Chairman of the Thac Gian Ward People’s Committee Nguyen Ngoc Long said that VND 225 million has been raised from generous donors across the ward over the past two months for the embelishment work.
Moreover, the ward authorities asked the Corps No. 18 under the Ministry of Defence to help the 88-year-old war invalid Pham Thi Ngon repair her degraded house.
In Ngu Hanh Son District, the building and repairing of 35 out of 41 houses of those who gave great service in the national revolution have been completed while the work on five others is underway.
Mr. Mai Xuan Linh, the Head of the Ngu Hanh Son District Office of Labour, War Invalids and Social Affairs, said that in respond to the 75th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs' Day, the district and its ward authorities plan to visit and give gifts to social policy families and revolutionary contributors, as well as to call for the donation to the Gratitude Fund.
Furthermore, the district will continue to educate the younger generation about the previous generations’ contributions and sacrifices in order to help them uphold their responsibility for the city’s growth.
