In his address at the opening ceremony of the 7th session of the Da Nang People’s Council in its 10th tenure for the 2021 - 2026 term on Tuesday morning, municipal Party Committee Secretary Nguyen Van Quang put a spotlight on the need for relevant agencies to consider and deploy really necessary projects to ensure the efficient use of the financial resources as adjusting and supplementing capital sources arranged in the medium-term public investment capital plan during the 2021-2025 period.

Secretary Nguyen Van Quang expressed his delight at some of the city’s encouraging socio-economic development results after it was negatively affected by COVID-19 for a long time.
Specifically, the city has successfully organised the municipal Investment Forum 2022 with the participation of the Prime Minister and more than 600 investors at both home and abroad.
Da Nang has been ranked 3rd among top 10 best cities in Southeast Asia by readers of the Travel + Leisure magazine - the world's leading travel magazine.
In the first 6 months of the year, the Government Standing Committee and the Prime Minister had two online and face-to-face working sessions with the city leaders. Thereby, the Prime Minister highly appreciated the city’s outstanding results in Party building, socio-economic development, national defence and security assurance, as well as praised the city’s efforts in issuing policies and mechanisms to support businesses to remove difficulties and obstacles to boost the city's socio-economic recovery in the coming time.

Mr. Quang spoke highly of the municipal People's Council and the People's Committee for their proactiveness and flexibility in directing and organising relevant activities, especially thematic meetings, promptly deploying regular and extraordinary tasks under the direction of the municipal Party Committee, and meeting the city’s requirements for pandemic control and prevention and socio-economic recovery and development.
However, the city leader frankly pointed out some shortcomings during the city’s economic recovery journey.
In particular, some key projects did not ensure on-schedule progress, and the disbursement of public investment capital still remained slow.
Some people were found to be subjective and neglect with pandemic prevention and control work, especially the rate of people getting COVID-19 vaccine boosters did not reach the city’s plan.

Therefore, Secretary Quang stressed the necessity for the municipal People’s Council to focus on discussing, analysing, and evaluating substantively and comprehensively on the situation and achieved results in order to frankly point out limitations and difficulties in carrying out socio-economic development tasks, from which to draw lessons from experience and have drastic and specific solutions to achieve the highest targets and tasks in 2022.
He also underlined the importance of issuing mechanisms and policies to remove difficulties and obstacles, attract investment resources, and create motivation for the city development in the near future.
He remarked that the session should focus on improving the quality of questioning and answering activities, as well as monitoring and evaluating the results of implementation of commitments committed by leaders of departments and branches when answering questions at meetings.
He asked the municipal People’s Council and agencies and branches at all levels to make every effort to well fulfill the year’s goals and tasks, thereby creating a premise and foundation for the implementation of tasks in 2023 and the following years.
