Promoting role of women in national construction and development

The second session of the Viet Nam Women’s Union in its 13th tenure took place in Da Nang on Friday.

In attendance at the event were Chairmwoman of the Viet Nam Women's Union Ha Thi Nga, Da Nang Party Committee Secretary Nguyen Van Quang, municipal People’s Council Vice Chairwoman Cao Thi Huyen Tran, and municipal People’s Committee Vice Chairwoman Ngo Thi Kim Yen.

In his remarks at the event, Secretary Quang revealed that Da Nang was determined to overcome difficulties and challenges to accelerate its post-pandemic socio-economic recovery. As a result, the city achieved a number of positive results in all spheres.

In particular, the growth rate of Da Nang gross regional domestic product (GRDP) in the second quarter of 2022 rose by 12.3%, and in the first 6 months increased by 7.23%. Meanwhile, the city’s total State budget in the first half of 2022 reached 68% of the year’s estimates.

Over the past time, the Da Nang Party Committee has always promoted the role of women through the issuance of many guidelines and policies associated with the implementation of the ‘5 No’s, 3 Yes’s’ programme and the 'City of 4 Safe Programmes' campaign.

Also, the Da Nang Party Committee has issued Directive 39-CT/TU on building a safe city free of violence against women and girls.

The city has also deployed a project to develop female cadres until 2025 and the following years with the aim of building a contingent of quality female cadres to meet the requirements of the construction and development of the city in the new normal.

The Da Nang Party chief Quang took the opportunity to thank the Central Executive Committee of the Association for special care and support for the Da Nang Women Union in recent years.

He asked for a helping hand from the Viet Nam Women's Union and its chapters nationwide to further promote women's movements in the city in a bid to meet the expectations from the national and municipal governments.

Also at the event, President of the Viet Nam Women's Union Ha Thi Nga briefed the participants on some outstanding achievements that the Union gained in the first 6 months of 2022.

She also asked for support from the leaders of the Party, the National Assembly and the Government, plus agencies, departments, and mass organisations at all levels to help her organisation well fulfill its goals and tasks in the coming time.
