A solemn session of the 19^th Congress of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union of Da Nang in the 2022-2027 term took place at the School of Politics on Monday morning.

In his speech delivered at the congress, municipal Party Committee Secretary Nguyen Van Quang praised the local Youth Union and its chapters citywide for their outstanding achievements over the past term.

He underlined the vital position and role of the Youth Union as a great helper arm and a reliable reserve team of Party, and the core force of society, thereby actively contributing to developing Da Nang into a prosperous, modern, beautiful, peaceful and civilised city in the time to come.

Secretary Quang agreed with the Executive Committee on its directions, goals, tasks and solutions for the 2022-2027 term. He added that this is a premise for the new Executive Committee to promote creativity, quality, dynamism and bravery, as well as clearly show its role as the nucleus of leadership, hereby promoting the youth’s and children's movements in the new period.

The city Party chief Quang suggested the Youth Union organisations at all levels intensify education for the young generation about revolutionary ideals, morality, cultural lifestyle and patriotism.

Greater efforts should be made to promote the application of information technology in publicity and education activities, as well as coordinate with all levels and sectors to support the local young to learn, train and develop skills, improve their cultural and spiritual life and carry out many youth voluntary movements in association with the actual needs of social life and the requirements set by the city, added he.

Mr. Quang suggested that the activities and movements of the Youth Union organisations must be suitable for psychology, tastes and stem from the youth's life.

Speaking at the congress, first Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union’s Central Committee Bui Quang Huy highly lauded the remarkable achievements that the municipal Youth Union has gained over the last term.

He took the opportunity to ask local young people to pioneer in boosting digital transformation, preserving and promoting traditional cultural values and the cultural quintessence of mankind, voluntary campaigns in remote and mountainous areas, and fighting against false and hostile perspectives, especially in cyberspace.

During the working session, the Congress saw the election of the new 41-member Executive Committee and new 10-member Standing Committee of the Da Nang Youth Union in the 2022-2027 term.

Mr. Nguyen Manh Dung was re-elected as Secretary, whilst Ms. Nguyen Thi Anh Thao, Mr. Nguyen Ba Duan and Mr. Le Cong Hung were re-elected as Deputy Secretaries.

Also at the congress, 7 members were elected for the Inspection Committee of the municipal Youth Union, and 15 delegates were chosen for attending the 12^th National Congress of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union in the 2022-2027 term.
