Giving children the best things
The municipal Labour Federation awarded 352 scholarships worth nearly 250 million VND in total to children of local trade union members who are poor studious students and excellent students in the 2021 - 2022 accademic year.
In addition, 2,000 gifts were given to children of trade union members in difficult circumstances across the city on the occasion of the Mid-Autumn Festival. As part of the municipal Labour Federation programme to provide best care for trade union members in difficult circumstances in a bid to encourage them to stick with their companies or organization as well as motivate them to maximise productivity, the Full Moon Festival taking place on the full moon night (the 15th day of the 8th lunar month) was celebrated for their children by grassroots trade union organisations, and it featured an array of exciting events and activities. Included were magic tricks, puppet shows, quizzes, lion dance performances and gift presentation. Recently, nearly 3,500 sets of textbooks went to support students in grades 1 through 12 in flooded- affected areas in the city due to the impact of tropical storm SONCA in an effort to ensure their learning continuity after the storm.
Taking care of female employees
Currently, women account for about 59% of the total number of public and private sector employees in the city, thereby making a large contribution to economic and social sectors. Therefore, high priority is being given to taking care of the material and spiritual life of female trade union members and employees.
Nearly 1,100 female union members received financial support totaling nearly VND 1.1 billion from the municipal Labour Federation on the occasion of the Vietnamese Women's Day (October 20). Importance was attached to organising practical activities for female employees, including sports festivals, thematic workshops on gender and gender equality, plus reproductive health.
Mrs Phan Thi Thuc Anh, Vice Chairwoman of the Trade Union organisation of the Da Nang Education sector said that gender equality and women's role in family and society were highlighted at a thematic seminar which attracted great deal of attention from female employees in this sector.
In Cam Le district, a sports festival saw the participation of nearly 100 female trade union members who competed in 4 events, namely Gym, Yoga, Group X and Kickfit.
Mr. Le Trong Nguyen from the municipal Labour Federation highlighted great efforts grassroots trade union organisations across the city have made during this year to provide best care for female employees and ensure that all of them enjoy benefits from these organisations and they are the happiest trade union members.
