NA Vice Chairman congratulates parishioners on Christmas

National Assembly Vice Chairman Tran Thanh Man, on Monday, visited and extended Christmas greetings to the Diocese of Da Nang.

He was accompanied by Da Nang Party Committee Secretary Nguyen Van Quang, and Municipal People's Committee Chairman Le Trung Chinh, and some leaders of the municipal People's Council and the Fatherland Front Committee.

On behalf of the leaders of the Party, State and Viet Nam Fatherland Front Committee, Vice Chairman Man wished the local Catholic dignitaries and followers a happy and peaceful Christmas.

Mr. Man briefed leaders of Da Nang and the Diocese of Da Nang on the country's socio-economic development in 2022. He added despite facing many difficulties and challenges, the country recorded strong and impressive socio-economic recovery. Meanwhile, national defence and security were guaranteed, and foreign affairs and anti-corruption activities were promoted.

He also praised the Diocese of Da Nang for its active involvement in social welfare and charity work, especially in preschool education, vocational training, and taking care of people in difficult circumstances, children with disabilities and orphans. This greatly contributed to spreading the spirit of love and charity in the community.

The NA Vice Chairman hoped that Catholic dignitaries and followers will continue to ensure a ‘good secular and religious life’ and actively respond to the campaigns ‘Building a new-style rural areas’, ‘Urban civilization’, and ‘Vietnamese people give priority to using Vietnamese goods’.

For his part, Bishop of the Diocese Dang Duc Ngan thanked the Vice Chairman Man, along with city leaders, for visiting and congratulating the Bishop's Office on the Christmas occasion 2022.

He affirmed that the Catholic community will continue to accompany the city during its socio-economic restoration and development in the coming time.

When visiting the Standing Board of the Viet Nam Christian Mission based in Hoa Xuan Ward, Cam Le District, on the same day, Vice Chairman Man highlighted the great contribution of the Christian dignitaries and followers during the progress of Da Nang, and the whole country as a whole.

He highly lauded the Mission's active involvement in social welfare and charity activities, especially in taking care of the poor and disadvantaged in the city. He also affirmed that the Party, State and government of Da Nang will always create favourable conditions for the Christian community to operate in accordance with the Constitution and the law.

He took the opportunity to wish Christian pastors, dignitaries and followers a peaceful and happy Christmas, as well as encourage them to actively get involved in patriotic emulation movements, and bolstering the progress of the city.

In reply, Head of the city-based Viet Nam Christian Mission Pastor, Parson Nguyen Quang Duc, deeply thanked the city leaders at all levels for their special care, pledging that the Mission will always accompany and contribute to the development of the country in general and the city in particular.
