President meets retired senior officials in Central Viet Nam

In his speech delivered at a get-together on Sunday in Da Nang for retired senior officials in Central Viet Nam, State President Nguyen Xuan Phuc extended cordial greetings from leaders of the Party and national government, and briefed them on the country’s remarkable achievements on socio-economic development, national defence and security and foreign policy activities over the past year.

In attendance at the event were Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court of Viet Nam Nguyen Hoa Binh, and leaders of central ministries and branches and localities in Central Viet Nam.

As for Da Nang, the event saw the presence of municipal Party Committee Secretary Nguyen Van Quang, and municipal People's Council Chairman Luong Nguyen Minh Triet, along with municipal People's Committee Chairman Le Trung Chinh.

He added that the country recorded a positive socio-economic growth, whilst social welfare activities received much attention and timely direction from the national to local-level authorities. Social order and safety were maintained, and the national unity bloc was consolidated. Diplomatic activities were renewed, thereby contributing to enhancing Viet Nam's position in the international arena.

The Party building and rectification work, and the improvement of the capacity and combat strength of Party organizations were implemented drastically, bringing efficiency and creating confidence among residents. Anti-corruption work was promoted and achieved many important results.

The Central Government issued many directives and resolutions on the prevention and combat of corruption and negative phenomena. Provincial-level steering committees on anti-corruption were set up, initially achieving important results.

The President noted that the aforementioned results were greatly attributed to huge efforts made by the Party and State, led by General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, along with a high sense of consensus and determination of the entire people.

Mr. Phuc highly appreciated the great efforts made by the central provinces in leading and managing the socio-economic recovery and development as many localities recorded high growth rates.

The national government official highlighted Da Nang for its innovations and creativity in boosting post-pandemic socio-economic recovery and development. Accordingly, Da Nang's economic growth ranked third in the country, and its budget revenue exceeded by 20% over the same period.

Additionally, Da Nang regained a higher growth momentum than in 2019, tourism was recovered strongly, exports were enhanced, and social welfare was ensured. Many motivational projects were kickstarted, including the shared infrastructure of the Lien Chieu Port project.

With regard to the tasks set for 2023, the President asked cadres and Party members to uphold their responsibilities for well implementing the Party's policies and guidelines, and closely following the spirit of the 13th National Party Congress, at all levels.

Mr Phuc wished all retired senior officials in Central Viet Nam good health, hoping that they would continue to promote their revolutionary spirit, bravery, experience and wisdom to drive the country's socio-economic development, and ensure national defence and security in Central Viet Nam and Central Highlands, and the whole country at large.
