Da Nang is one of the important gateway to the Pacific Ocean of Central Viet Nam, Laos, Cambodia, Thailand, Myanmar and Northeast Asian countries through the East-West Economic Corridor.

Da Nang is identified as the growth nucleus of the central key economic zone, creating a development driving force in Central Viet Nam and Highlands. As for tourism, in 2022, the total number of guests served by local accommodation establishments reached 3.69 million.

In addition, Da Nang was ranked highest according to the Viet Nam Provincial Tourism Destination Competitiveness Index (VTCI), ranked third in the top 10 leading tourist cities in Southeast Asia according to Asia Travel Awards 2022 and was honored as ‘Asia's Leading Festival and Event Destination’ in 2022.

Mr. Triet said that on the basis of the special friendship and cooperation between the two Parties, the two States and the two peoples of Viet Nam and Laos, Da Nang always paid special attention to building close cooperation relationships with south central provinces of Laos.

Da Nang has supported five south central provinces of Laos to implement some projects, such as building and upgrading schools, public works and Vietnamese language teaching centers, and granting scholarships for Lao students studying in Da Nang, sending teachers to teach Vietnamese at Vietnamese language centers, and receiving Laotian officials to learn from Da Nang experience.

In early July, 2022, a high-ranking delegation of Da Nang visited and worked the south central provinces of Laos. During the visits, Da Nang signed memoranda of understanding for the 2022-2027 period with the provinces of Savannakhet, Champasak, Sekong, Salavane and Attapeu in the fields of education - training, socio-economic development, trade and investment.

Talking about the operation experience of the municipal People’s Council, Deputy Secretary Triet said that at the beginning of the 2021-2026 term, the city piloted the urban government model with no People’s Councils in 6 districts and 45 wards.
