Da Nang leader congratulates Lao consulate on traditional New Year festival

On Monday morning, Da Nang Party Committee Secretary Nguyen Van Quang visited the Lao Consulate General in Da Nang and extended his greetings to the consulate’s staff on the occasion of their traditional Bunpimay New Year festival 2023.

On behalf of the government and people of Da Nang, Mr Quang wished Lao Consul General in Da Nang Souphanh Hadaoheuang and his family, along with all staff of the Consulate General a good health, happiness and success for the new year. He also sent best wishes to leaders of the Party, State and people of Laos, as well as leaders of localities that Da Nang has set up twinning relationship on the occasion of the traditional New Year festival Bunpimay.

Mr. Quang informed that President Vo Van Thuong and a high-ranking delegation of Viet Nam arrived in Vientiane on April 10 morning, beginning an official visit to Laos at the invitation of General Secretary of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party and President of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith.

President Thuong's first overseas trip shows Viet Nam's strong and comprehensive support for the renovation, socio-economic recovery and development, and international integration of Laos, he added.

The Da Nang Party chief hoped that officials and employees of the Lao Consulate General in Da Nang continue to make efforts to promote the traditional friendship and special solidarity between Viet Nam and Laos in general, and Da Nang and south central provinces of Laos in particular.

For his part, Lao Consul General in Da Nang Souphanh Hadaoheuang thanked the city leader for the special care for his agency over the past time. He pledged that he will do his utmost to strengthen the friendship between the two countries.

The Laotian official briefed Da Nang guests on the meaning of Bunpimay Festival, as well as asked for support from the municipal leaders to create the most favourable condition for Lao students studying and living in the city.
