Working group in Da Nang heads to Truong Sa Island District

On Saturday morning, the working group No.7 led by Rear Admiral Nguyen Dinh Hung, Deputy Commander of the Navy under the Ministry of Defence, and the Da Nang delegation led by Chairman of the Da Nang Fatherland Front Committee Ngo Xuan Thang, headed to Truong Sa (Spratly) Island District and the marine defence platform DK1.

Municipal Party Committee Deputy Secretary cum People's Council Chairman Luong Nguyen Minh Triet, along with leaders of the Naval Service High Command and the High Command of Naval Zone 3, attended the farewell ceremony for the group.

The delegation is scheduled to give necessities to soldiers and residents in the island district and platform DK1; participate in cultural exchange activities with soldiers and residents in the island district; and visit the Uncle Ho memorial house and Truong Sa Martyrs Monument.

Also, they will donate gifts to households living on the island district; as well as attend a ceremony in memory of heroic martyrs who sacrificed their lives at Gac Ma, Co Lin, Len Dao and DK1 platform.

The special and important business trip shows the deep concern of the Party, government and people of Da Nang to the cause of protecting the sovereignty of the sea and islands. It is a great source of spiritual encouragement for naval officers and soldiers to overcome difficulties and well fulfill their assigned tasks.

The trip also aims to raise awareness of the protection of national sovereignty on sea and islands among officials, Party members and civil servants of Da Nang and invited guests.
