Da Nang officials work with Geneva government in Switzerland

Within the framework of their ongoing business trip to Switzerland, on May 24, a delegation of Da Nang’s officials, led by of municipal People's Committee Permanent Vice Chairman Ho Ky Minh had a working session with the government of Canton of Geneva.

Mr. Mauro Poggia, Chairman of the Executive Council of the Canton of Geneva, expressed his pleasure and honour to receive the Da Nang delegation.

He briefed his guests on his locality’s economic, cultural and social characteristics, along with the main features of the Switzerland - Viet Nam diplomatic relations over the past time. He hoped that the bilateral cooperation relations between the Canton of Geneva and Da Nang will be further fostered.

On behalf of the Da Nang visitors Vice Chairman Ho Ky Minh remarked that Da Nang and the Canton of Geneva shared many similarities when both are urban areas with a small area, but possessing many high-ranked quality of life factors in the world, which are important to international tourists and investors.

He introduced to the host the city's living, working and business environment; as well as its potential and strengthens for the development of tourism, high-tech, information technology and logistics.

During the working session, Mr. Vincent Subilia, Director of the Geneva Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Services (CCIG), also gave a positive assessment of the investment and business environment of Da Nang, and Viet Nam as a whole.

He suggested leaders of the Canton of Geneva facilitate enterprises in Geneva to expand investment and business cooperation with Da Nang in the time to come.

Vincent Subilia also hoped that in the near future, he would accompany a number of businesses and investors in Geneva, and Switzerland as a whole, to visit Da Nang to seek investment and business cooperation opportunities.

In the spirit of dialogue to promote the relationship of the two sides, Mr. Mauro Poggia highly appreciated the socio-economic achievements that Da Nang has gained in recent years.

He also highly lauded Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Le Thi Tuyet Mai, Head of the Permanent Mission of Viet Nam to the United Nations (UN), WTO and other international organisations in Geneva for her great efforts in connecting and promoting the relationship between the Canton of Geneva and Da Nang.

For her part, Ambassador Le Thi Tuyet Mai thanked the Canton of Geneva for its active support for the Permanent Mission of Viet Nam to the United Nations (UN), WTO and other international organisations in Geneva to well fulfill its tasks, especially creating favourable conditions for the Vietnamese community in Geneva.

She suggested that Da Nang and the Canton of Geneva should discuss the organisation of a number of external diplomatic events in 2024 to mark the 70th anniversary of the 1954 Geneva Agreement.
