Ceremony commemorates 165th anniversary of Da Nang's anti-French resistance war

A ceremony to commemorate the 165th anniversary of Da Nang’s resistance war against the French (1858-2023) was solemnly held at the Hoa Vang Martyrs’ Cemetery in Cam Le District on Thursday evening.

At the ceremony, leaders of Military Zone 5, the municipal and Cam Le District authorities respectfully offered incense to commemorate and express deep gratitude to the generals and martyrs who had heroically fought and died in the national defence war against the French invaders 165 years ago.

The speech delivered by Chairman of Cam Le District People's Committee Nguyen Quang Vinh at the ceremony helped the attendees review the history of the heroic fight of Da Nang's army and people against the French-Spanish coalition forces, thereby affirming the precious values and great significance of the war and promoting patriotic traditions for future generations in the cause of homeland construction and defence.

165 years have passed, but the event of Da Nang people representing the whole country and joining the whole country in fighting the French in the first battle has entered the consciousness of posterity with national pride.
