During the meeting, Secretary Quang welcomed Deputy Director Sun Yeli and the Chinese delegation to attend the opening ceremony of the 16th Conference of ASEAN Ministers Responsible for Information (AMRI) and Related Meetings which opened in Da Nang on this morning.

He affirmed that the press and media played a pivotal role in conveying information, guidelines and policies of the Party and State to the Vietnamese citizens.

He also expressed his impression on the Chinese Communist Party's press and media management in recent times. He highly lauded fruitful results achieved by the Chinese Party and State in doing a good job of managing information on today's popular social networking platforms.

The Da Nang top leader emphasised that press and media agencies from the national to local levels of the two countries must clearly demonstrate their roles and responsibilities in informing and propagating the joint statement between Viet Nam and China, thereby contributing to deepening the friendly relationship between the two Parties, the two States and people of the two countries.

He also took the opportunity to ask the Chinese guest to pay attention to media cooperation between the two Parties and States in general, and between Da Nang and Chinese localities in particular. The focus should be on enhancing exchange and cooperation activities between Da Nang and Chinese reporters in a bid to create a healthy information environment, contributing to consolidating and tightening the relationship between the Party and government of the two countries.

According to Mr. Quang, the Party and government of Viet Nam and China are facing challenges in controlling and conveying information to people under the context of increasingly deep integration and the explosion of information technology.

Therefore, the Da Nang Party Committee has thoroughly grasped and implemented the project on publicising, spreading positive information, fighting against toxic and bad information on the internet and social networks until 2025, with a vision towards 2030.

The city leader hoped that Mr. Sun Yeli and the delegation will exchange and share experience in press and media management in China with Da Nang.

On behalf of the Chinese delegation, Mr. Sun Yeli thanked the city's leader for the respectful welcome. At the same time, he affirmed that China and Viet Nam are always ‘good neighbours, good friends, good comrades, and good partners’.

He stressed the need for the both sides to strengthen people-to-people and information exchange activities in various fields which are their strengths.

The Chinese visitor revealed that China and Viet Nam have also signed media cooperation agreements to strongly boost mutual information exchange.

According to Mr. Sun Yeli, China and Viet Nam shared the same mission of building socialism towards bringing benefits and a happy and prosperous life to people. Therefore, in the coming time, the two sides need to strengthen the sharing and exchange of information to jointly promote their development during the industrialisation and modernisation period.
