Da Nang strengthens friendly and cooperation relations with China's Shandong

A delegation of Da Nang’s officials, led by Chairman of the municipal Fatherland Front Committee Ngo Xuan Thang, attended the 2023 World Sister Cities Forum in China’s Shandong Province on Monday at the invitation of the Shandong provincial authorities.

Chinese and foreign guests from over 30 countries and regions gathered in the forum in order to strengthen friendship, discuss cooperation, and work together to create a new chapter in the development of sister cities.

At the forum, leaders of Shandong Province wished to work with sister cities to strengthen cooperation in the fields of science and technology, innovation, commercial economy and environmental protection, especially cooperation in responding to climate change, saving energy and developing clean energy.

In his remarks at the opening ceremony of the forum, Chairman of the Da Nang Fatherland Front Committee Ngo Xuan Thang introduced his city’s remarkable achievements in responding to climate change and managing resources for development goals of becoming an ecological city. He also expressed his impression on Shandong Province’s outstanding development in recent times.

Also within the framework of the forum, Chairman Ngo Xuan Thang attended a tree-planting ceremony themed ‘Friendship Forest’ and an exhibition of intangible cultural heritage in Shandong Province with traditional cultural types such as paper cutting, puppetry and painting.

By attending the 2023 World Sister Cities Forum as a locality that has set up a sister city relation with Shandong Province since 1996, the delegation of Da Nang has contributed to deepening their existing traditional relations, and opening up new opportunities for promoting cooperation programmes between the two localities in the coming time.
