440 Vu A Dinh scholarships given to outstanding school pupils

The ‘For beloved Hoang Sa - Truong Sa’ Club held a get-together on Friday for its members in Da Nang, and neighbouring Quang Nam and Thua Thien-Hue provinces, to celebrate its 9th birthday.

In her remarks at the event, Mrs. Truong My Hoa, former Vice President, President of the Vu A Dinh Scholarship Fund, and Head of the Club reviewed the club’s achievements in 2023.

In particular, the Club has organised a number of peak activities such as the campaign for beloved Truong Sa pupils, and the campaign connecting shore and sea.

Also, the club has built five reading rooms for children of navy soldiers in Truong Sa Archipelago, and given 3,000 scholarships to children of navy soldiers working on the sea and islands.

In addition, the Club has been implementing 4 in-depth support projects, including Nurturing the future, Raising Wings for Dreams, Paving the way to the future, and Supporting 1,600 pupils from grades 6 - 12.

After 9 years of operation, the club now has a total of 4,052 members across 55 Vietnamese localties, and from Australia  and some countries in Europe, and Asia. 196 of them are in Da Nang and neighbouring Quang Nam and Thua Thien- Hue.

Also at the programme, the ‘For beloved Hoang Sa - Truong Sa’ Club donated 440 scholarships, totalling VND460 million, to 40 ethnic minority students and 400 pupils who are children of professional soldiers of Navy Region 3 and the Fishery Surveillance Detachment 3.

The Club admitted and granted membership cards to 71 individuals living and working in Da Nang; as well as presented a gift worth VND15 million to the Liaison Committee for the Da Nang - Quang Nam unnumbered train's ex-soldiers.

Additionally, the club received VND464 million from generous businesses and individuals for the Vu A Dinh Scholarship Fund.
